Norwegian cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has unveiled its most comprehensive order in its history, comprising a total of eight state-of-the-art vessels and the construction of a multi-berth pier at Great Stirrup Cay, the company’s private destination island in the Bahamas and its highest-rated Caribbean port of call. This ambitious plan spans a decade and aims to enhance product offerings, guest experiences, and operational infrastructure, bolstering the cruise holding’s position in the vacation market.

The delivery of the new vessels for the holding’s three divisions will occur over a ten-year period, spanning from 2026 to 2036. For Norwegian Cruise Line, the reception of four ships, each approximately 200,000 gross tons with a capacity for nearly 5,000 cruisers, is expected in the years 2030, 2032, 2034, and 2036. Oceania Cruises anticipates the delivery of two vessels, each 86,000 gross tons with a capacity for 1,450 cruisers, in 2027 and 2029. Finally, Regent Seven Seas Cruises will receive two ships, each 77,000 gross tons with a capacity for 850 cruisers, in 2026 and 2029.

Harry Sommer, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, underscored the strategic importance of this order, emphasizing its role in bolstering the holding’s long-term growth and enhancing fleet efficiency.

Caribbean Pier Development

Additionally, plans for the construction of a new pier at Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas, have been unveiled to support increased capacity in the Caribbean and elevate guest experiences. Construction is slated to commence in the summer of 2024, with an expected completion by late 2025, involving an investment of approximately US$150 million. This new pier will accommodate two large vessels from both current and future classes of the holding, thereby enhancing year-round access to the private island.

The establishment of these modern vessels and the development of the new pier signify Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ commitment to continual innovation and enhancement within the maritime sector. With a focus on delivering unparalleled experiences to guests while maximizing operational efficiency, this initiative marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey towards sustained growth and excellence in the global cruise industry.
